There are new resources available for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. These resources are accessible through Coordinated Entry. If you are not currently experiencing homelessness but at risk of losing your housing, please contact your local Community Action Agency (https://wildfireaz.org/find-help/community-action-agencies/#toggle-id-29 ) or view the following website to locate the closest Emergency Rental Assistance Program: https://des.az.gov/ERAP
The Scottsdale Housing Agency (SHA) has been awarded 34 Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHVs) from the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD), as authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (Public Law No: 117-2).
The effective date of the EHV award is July 1, 2021.
The Maricopa Regional Continuum of Care (CoC) will assist qualifying families through a direct referral process to
the SHA.
EHV Qualifying Categories
In order to be eligible for an EHV, an individual or family must meet one of four eligibility categories:
- Homeless
- At risk of homelessness
- Fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human
trafficking
- Recently homeless and for whom providing rental assistance will prevent the family’s homelessness or having high
risk of housing instability.
EHV Process
Eligibility for EHVs are limited to the Qualifying Categories listed above and are managed through a direct referral
process from the Maricopa Regional Continuum of Care. SHA will not accept EHV applications directly.
In general, verification an individual or family meets one of the four eligibility categories is conducted by the CoC
Coordinated Entry System. The CoC or other direct referral partner must provide supporting documentation to the SHA
of the referring agency’s verification that the family meets one of the four eligible categories for EHV assistance.
