Where to Shop using Transit in South Scottsdale

Last month’s closure of the Fry’s grocery store at Miller and Indian School roads has left some transit riders looking for a new place to shop for groceries. Scottsdale’s Trolley and Valley Metro regional transit systems offer service to several grocery stores in southern Scottsdale. Trolleys offer free service, 20-minute ride frequency and operate Monday – Friday from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Visit the Valley Metro website for information on regional routes and fees. Via de Ventura Paving Project

Via de Ventura is scheduled to be repaved between Hayden Road and Eastwood Ln. starting June 4. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is expected to be complete by June 19. Weekend work will be scheduled if needed. One travel lane, in each direction, will remain open during construction and business access will be maintained throughout the project. The finished roadway will be restriped in the existing configuration of two travel lanes east and westbound with bike lanes; existing left and right turn bays will remain in place.

The mill & overlay project includes removing 'milling' a layer of pavement and resurfacing or 'overlaying' the roadway with a new layer of asphalt. In-street utilities will be adjusted, to avoid interruption of service, prior to and following the project.

Please use caution when traveling near the work area, follow detour signs, and plan ahead to avoid delays. This work is part of the city's pavement maintenance program, which improves deteriorated streets and alleyways in Scottsdale. For more information, please call the project hotline at 480-486-9067.
